Reb Haizlip, FAIA

Reb is an architect and self-taught painter. He is the founder of Haizlip Studio, a national architecture and design practice focused on cultural, educational and civic projects. Over the past thirty-five years, he has directed a fascinating mix of museum, higher education, civic and non-profit projects across the country and around the world, a large number of which were innovative learning environments for children and families. For this work, he was elected to the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows in 2016.

Possessed of a lifelong passion for drawing and design, Reb took up pastels and acrylics about ten years ago. He has garnered a couple of shows in his adopted hometown of Asheville, NC.

His paintings draw mostly from the natural world and his garden, influenced by the American abstract expressionist movement. And, since most everyone asks, he is nicknamed for his grandmother, Rebecca.
